The name Ismar found in Germany in the Rhine region in the vicinity of Cologne. In my Everhard of Ismar (uncle) from Erftstadt word list is the name of ancestors 200 years ago still occasionally with "Ismaar" - ie, 2 x "a" - out in the schedules of Standes-/Kirchämter. Geography and spelling indicate therefore an obvious explanation: the inhabitants of the High Eifel (Schneeeifel. ..) it urged in the late Middle Ages, from the barren land of snow, ice and down the fertile wares in local bay.
